According to Spanish authorities, the top military leader heading Eta, the Basque separatist group has been arrested in south–west France. Last week Ekaitz Sirvent Auzmendi, one of the top five leaders of the Eta group was arrested in Paris with a Magnum revolver and a fake Id after he got off a high speed train from Bordeaux, according to French and Spanish media report. Touted to be Eta’s top forger, Auzmendi was caught last week with a laptop computer, several hard disks and forged Spanish and French papers. In its forty years of campaign for a separate Basque nation, the Eta is allegedly responsible for more than 820 deaths.
